Sacramento Mini Photography Sessions

Mini sessions are a popular option for families, couples, maternity, and milestone photography in Sacramento and surrounding areas. These short, thoughtfully planned photography sessions are offered throughout the year at seasonal outdoor locations or curated setups, making it easy to update family photos, celebrate a milestone, or document a meaningful season of life.
From spring blossoms and summer golden hour to fall tones and holiday sessions, Sacramento mini sessions are designed to feel relaxed, joyful, and connection-focused. Availability is limited and sessions often book quickly, so early booking is encouraged to secure your spot.
mini sessions are perfect if...
You need a short seasonal family update
You want a quick session with little ones
You're celebrating a milestone
You love one of my limited seasonal locations/setups
You don't need the flexibility or storytelling time of a full session
FAQ

How long are mini sessions?
Most of my mini sessions are 15 minutes, which is just enough time to capture a beautiful variety without asking too much of little ones. Occasionally, I offer 5-minute micro sessions for special events, like Cow Minis or Quickmas, when the goal is something extra quick and simple.
Are mini sessions good for toddlers?
For most toddlers, yes! If your little one has a short attention span, lots of energy, or is happiest when we keep things moving, 15 minutes can be the perfect amount of time.
If your child tends to be more reserved and needs extra time to warm up, explore their surroundings, or get comfortable with someone new, I usually recommend a full session instead. Having that extra time lets us move at their pace without feeling rushed.
Can I use a mini session for maternity or milestones?
Absolutely! Mini sessions are a great option for milestones and can also be used for maternity photos.
For maternity, many of my clients prefer a full session so we have more time for variety, different poses, and documenting this season more fully, but a mini is perfect if you're looking for something simple and sweet.
For milestones, minis work especially well for a straightforward portrait update. If you're hoping for multiple outfits, several setups, or a full cake smash experience, you'll want a longer session.
What's the difference between a mini and a full session?
The biggest difference is the pace and the amount of storytelling we're able to capture.
During a mini, I'm a speed shooter! I give lots of prompts and direction so we can make the most of our short time together. You'll still get a mix of posed, candid, and playful images, with more focus on those classic favorite shots.
Full sessions give us time to slow down. We can capture the photos everyone wants while also leaving room for the little details and in-between moments that help tell more of your family's story.
Both are wonderful options for different reasons. One of my favorite things about minis is that they make it easier to document your family throughout the year. I see many of my families multiple times a year through mini sessions, and I love getting to watch their families grow.
