A February Dreamscape for Maternity, Family & Couples Sessions
Every February, the almond orchards of Woodland, just outside Sacramento, slip into a kind of magic that never lasts long enough. Rows of soft pink and white blossoms open all at once, petals fall like gentle snow, and the entire landscape glows in a way that feels almost unreal.
It’s quiet. Dreamy.
A backdrop that transforms every session — maternity, family, couples — into something tender and timeless.
This past season, I photographed so many different stories in the blossoms, yet they all shared the same feeling: softness, intention, and a little bit of February wonder.
I watched expecting parents hold each other in the warm sunset, the blossoms framing them like a love letter to the new life they were preparing to meet. I chased joyful little ones as they ran through the rows, stopping for the small in-between moments — a hug, a hand squeeze, a shy smile. And I witnessed couples laugh, dance, and melt into each other as petals drifted around them.
Different stories, different seasons of life…
but the orchards held them all so beautifully.
That’s the magic of almond blossoms.
They add a layer of romance to everything — making the simple feel cinematic, and the ordinary feel extraordinary.
But the season is short.
Just a few weeks, and then the petals fall and the orchards return to quiet.
The photographs, though — those stay. They become reminders of a fleeting season, a growing family, a new chapter, a moment you’ll want to return to again and again.
My Almond Blossom Experience opens every December, and because the bloom is so brief, sessions fill quickly. If you’re dreaming of this soft, romantic February backdrop for next year, be sure to join the waitlist.
Until the next bloom…
here’s to light, love, and the beauty that arrives only for a moment — and stays forever in a photograph.
