There’s something truly magical about golden hour at the McKinley Rose Garden in Sacramento, CA. The way the sun filters through the trees, the blooms bursting in every color, and the quiet joy that fills the air. It’s the perfect backdrop for a love-filled maternity session, and this one was especially sweet.
S & A arrived hand in hand, glowing with excitement and anticipation. Their mini session may have been short in time, but it was absolutely overflowing with meaning. Every detail, from the tiny baby shoes gently held, to the ultrasound photo they proudly showed off beneath the golden light, was a love note to the little one they’re waiting to meet.
We walked through the garden paths, surrounded by roses in full bloom. The mom-to-be wore a soft sage green dress that caught the breeze just right, and dad-to-be looked at her with the kind of tenderness that makes time feel like it’s standing still. These are the kinds of moments I live to capture.
There was laughter, quiet whispers, gentle kisses, and the kind of connection that doesn’t need staging. It just is. One of my favorite parts of being a maternity photographer in Sacramento is witnessing the in-between moments. A hand on a belly. Eyes closed in gratitude. The anticipation. The love. The stillness before life changes forever.
This was a Golden Hour Mini Session, and yet you’d never know it by looking at the images. Every frame is filled with depth and story. I always say maternity photos aren't just about a baby bump. They’re about the connection between two people as they prepare to become parents. They’re about honoring the journey, the wait, and the love that brought this little life into being.
Sessions like this remind me why I started Amy Medina Photography. I believe that everyone deserves photos that feel like poetry. Joyful, romantic, and real. If you’re looking to schedule a maternity session in Sacramento, whether at McKinley Park or another beautiful local location, I’d love to help you create something timeless.
Let’s celebrate your story, your love, and the sweet season you’re in.
